Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Press Operator to join a leading flexible packaging manufacturer in Pittsburg, Kansas. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring press equipment to produce high-quality printed products while meeting production schedules, customer specifications, and quality standards.
The ideal candidate has previous machine operating experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
Required Experience & Skills
High school diploma or GED required
3 12 months of manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred
Ability to read and understand work instructions and production documentation
Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Excellent attention to detail and quality standards
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic required
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Set up, operate, and monitor press equipment according to production specifications
Plan and manage production runs to meet customer delivery deadlines
Select appropriate films, solvents, sleeves, and production materials
Match colors to customer specifications and quality standards
Troubleshoot printing issues and correct production defects
Inspect film during production for flaws, defects, and splices
Load materials and remove finished products from press equipment
Train and support Press Assistants as needed
Clean and maintain press equipment according to company standards
Complete production reports and required documentation accurately
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and company safety procedures
Preferred Qualifications
Experience operating printing presses or similar manufacturing equipment
Forklift, slitter machine, hoist, or material handling equipment experience
Mechanical troubleshooting and equipment adjustment experience
Previous flexible packaging or printing industry experience
Physical Requirements
Frequent standing and walking throughout the shift
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and move up to 200 lbs occasionally with assistance
Frequent reaching, machine operation, and use of hands
Occasional bending, kneeling, climbing, and crouching
Strong visual abilities, including color vision and depth perception
Work Environment
Climate-controlled manufacturing facility
Fast-paced production environment focused on safety and quality
Exposure to printing equipment, industrial machinery, and production materials
Team-oriented workplace with strong emphasis on GMP standards and continuous improvement
