Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking an experienced 3G Vessel Welder to join a premier industrial fabrication team in Claremore. This position is responsible for performing vessel and structural welding using MIG and Flux Core processes while maintaining strict quality, safety, and production standards.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in heavy fabrication, at least two years of MIG and Flux Core welding experience, and the ability to produce high-quality vertical welds. Candidates must successfully demonstrate their welding ability through a hands-on 3G vessel weld test.
Required Experience & Skills
• Minimum 2 years of MIG and Flux Core welding experience required
• Strong experience performing structural or heavy fabrication welding
• Ability to weld in the 3G vertical position
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and fabrication drawings
• Strong understanding of welding specifications and proper fabrication procedures
• Ability to successfully complete the required hands-on weld test
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
• Strong commitment to workplace safety
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Perform vessel and structural welding using MIG (GMAW) and Flux Core (FCAW) processes
• Perform welding in the 3G vertical position according to required specifications
• Complete open-root MIG welds and Flux Core fill and cap passes
• Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and welding specifications
• Prepare and position materials for welding as required
• Produce high-quality welds that meet company and industry standards
• Inspect completed welds for quality, accuracy, and visible defects
• Identify and correct welding issues as needed
• Safely operate welding machines, grinders, and related fabrication equipment
• Maintain productivity while meeting production and project deadlines
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Follow all company safety procedures, welding requirements, and quality standards
• Perform additional vessel welding and fabrication duties as assigned
Weld Test Requirements
Candidates must successfully complete a 3G Vessel Welding Test consisting of:
• 3G vertical welding position
• Open Root MIG Weld
• Flux Core Fill and Cap
• Completed weld must meet required visual inspection and quality standards
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous vessel welding experience
• Structural steel or heavy fabrication experience
• Experience performing code-quality welding
• Strong blueprint and weld symbol reading skills
• Fit-up and fabrication experience
• Experience working in industrial vessel or pressure equipment manufacturing
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
• Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and working in vertical and other welding positions
• Ability to safely operate welding and fabrication equipment while wearing required PPE
• Comfortable working around heavy steel, welding equipment, grinders, heat, sparks, fumes, and industrial machinery
• Ability to perform physically demanding fabrication work throughout the workday
Work Environment
• Heavy industrial welding and vessel fabrication facility
• Hands-on work involving structural steel and fabricated vessel components
• Regular use of MIG and Flux Core welding equipment, grinders, and fabrication tools
• Exposure to industrial noise, heat, sparks, fumes, heavy materials, and production machinery
• Fast-paced environment focused on safety, weld quality, and production efficiency
