Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled 6G TIG Welder to join a growing fabrication team in Tulsa, OK. This role requires performing precision TIG welding on pipe systems while maintaining strict quality standards, code compliance, and workplace safety requirements.
The ideal 6G TIG Welder has extensive pipe welding experience, strong blueprint reading skills, and the ability to produce high-quality welds on carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy materials.
Required Experience & Skills
Minimum 3 5 years of pipe TIG welding experience preferred
Ability to pass a 6G weld test (TIG root and hot pass, possible fill and cap)
Experience welding carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy materials
Strong knowledge of welding codes and standards, including ASME Section IX preferred
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, WPSs, and technical specifications
Experience with schedule pipe, pressure piping, and structural pipe systems
Familiarity with purge welding techniques and high-quality root welds
Strong attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic REQUIRED
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform TIG (GTAW) welding on pipe in the 6G position and additional positions as required
Weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy pipe systems
Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and welding procedures
Ensure welds meet ASME, API, and customer specifications
Perform proper joint preparation, fit-up, alignment, and weld execution
Utilize grinders, beveling equipment, measuring tools, and welding equipment safely
Inspect welds for penetration, quality, and defects
Maintain welding equipment and perform routine upkeep as needed
Work closely with supervisors and QA/QC personnel to meet production and quality goals
Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and shop standards
Preferred Certifications
Current or previous 6G Welding Certification
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification preferred
Additional pipe welding certifications are a plus
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crouch, and work in confined areas for extended periods
Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
Ability to work overtime and weekends as required
Work Environment
Industrial fabrication and manufacturing environment
Exposure to welding equipment, heat, sparks, and industrial materials
May involve confined spaces, elevated work areas, and challenging welding positions
