Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking an experienced Fitter Welder to join a growing fabrication team in Claremore. This position is responsible for fitting, preparing, and welding heavy steel components while maintaining strict quality, safety, and production standards.
The ideal candidate has strong fitting experience, can accurately prepare materials for welding, and is confident performing structural welding in a heavy industrial fabrication environment.
Required Experience & Skills
Minimum 2 years of fitter experience required
Ability to successfully complete an Open Root 3G MIG Weld Test with Flux Core fill and cap
Ability to bevel 5/8-inch steel plate using a 9-inch grinder
Strong blueprint reading and fit-up skills
Experience using fabrication tools, grinders, and measuring equipment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Fit, align, and prepare steel components according to fabrication drawings and specifications
Perform MIG and Flux Core welding to company quality standards
Bevel, grind, and prepare heavy steel materials for welding operations
Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication instructions
Verify proper fit-up, alignment, and dimensions before welding
Inspect completed work for quality and dimensional accuracy
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Follow all company safety procedures and fabrication standards
Assist with additional fitting and fabrication duties as assigned
Weld Test Requirements
Candidates must successfully complete:
Open Root 3G MIG Weld Test
Flux Core Fill and Cap
Bevel 5/8-inch Steel Plate using a 9-inch grinder
Preferred Qualifications
Previous structural steel or heavy fabrication experience
Experience working in industrial manufacturing environments
Knowledge of fabrication layout and welding best practices
Forklift or overhead crane experience is a plus
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and repetitive physical activity throughout the shift
Ability to safely operate welding and fabrication equipment while wearing required PPE
Comfortable working around heavy steel, welding equipment, grinders, sparks, and industrial machinery
Work Environment
Heavy industrial fabrication and manufacturing facility
Exposure to fabrication equipment, welding operations, grinders, heavy steel materials, heat, sparks, and industrial noise
Fast-paced production environment focused on safety, precision, and quality craftsmanship
