Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join a growing maintenance team in Tulsa. This second-shift position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.
The ideal candidate has strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, experience working on diesel-powered equipment, and takes pride in delivering quality repairs while maintaining a safe work environment.
Required Experience & Skills
• 1–3 years of diesel mechanic or heavy equipment repair experience
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Experience working with diesel engines, trailers, and heavy equipment
• Proficiency using shop equipment, diagnostic tools, and repair equipment
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced shop environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and related systems to identify equipment issues
• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and routine service
• Utilize diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve mechanical problems
• Verify completed repairs meet company safety and performance standards
• Maintain accurate maintenance and repair documentation
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with shop safety procedures
• Follow all company policies, OSHA regulations, and preventive maintenance schedules
• Assist with additional maintenance and repair duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous experience repairing commercial trucks or fleet vehicles
• Experience working with hydraulic systems and heavy-duty equipment
• Diesel mechanic certifications or technical training
• Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and electronic diagnostic systems
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working underneath vehicles and equipment
• Ability to safely operate shop tools and equipment while wearing required PPE
• Comfortable working around heavy machinery, grease, noise, and varying shop conditions
Work Environment
• Heavy-duty truck and equipment maintenance facility
• Fast-paced repair environment supporting fleet and production equipment
• Exposure to diesel engines, hydraulic systems, shop equipment, lubricants, and industrial machinery
• Second-shift schedule with opportunities for overtime based on maintenance needs
