Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking an experienced Fabrication Foreman to lead daily fabrication operations in an engineer-to-order (ETO) manufacturing environment in Sand Springs. This position supervises welders, fitters, and fabricators while ensuring custom industrial equipment is produced safely, accurately, efficiently, and according to engineering specifications.
The ideal candidate has extensive fabrication and welding experience, strong knowledge of ASME quality requirements, and proven leadership experience managing production teams, schedules, labor hours, quality, and employee performance.
Required Experience & Skills
• Minimum 5 years of demonstrated fabrication, welding, and/or related manufacturing experience
• High school diploma or GED required
• Proven leadership and supervisory abilities
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering fabrication drawings
• Strong knowledge of ASME quality control procedures
• Advanced knowledge of MIG, TIG, Subarc, Stick, and Flux Core welding processes
• Ability to recommend appropriate welding procedures for specific applications
• Strong understanding of fitting, layout, fabrication, and welding operations
• Excellent organizational and project-management skills
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Ability to manage production priorities, labor requirements, and project deadlines
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of welders, fitters, fabricators, and other assigned personnel
• Assign daily work based on production priorities, employee skill levels, material availability, and project requirements
• Interpret engineered drawings, weld maps, build plans, and fabrication specifications for custom industrial equipment
• Monitor work orders to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budgeted labor hours
• Ensure employees have the materials, tools, and information required to maintain efficient workflow
• Provide technical guidance regarding welding, fitting, layout, and fabrication procedures
• Monitor production progress and address workflow issues that could affect project completion
• Perform quality checks throughout the fabrication process
• Coordinate with QA/QC personnel regarding inspections and non-conformance issues
• Ensure completed work meets blueprint, documentation, and customer requirements
• Maintain compliance with company policies, OSHA requirements, and applicable ASME standards
• Enforce proper use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and PPE
• Maintain a clean, organized, productive, and safety-focused fabrication department
Production & Project Management
• Monitor fabrication schedules and project completion status
• Track labor efficiency and budgeted job hours
• Monitor first-pass yield and other key production metrics
• Ensure employee labor hours are accurately charged to appropriate jobs
• Complete and submit weekly payroll reporting
• Coordinate with Engineering, Production Planning, Inventory Control, and Plant Management
• Resolve material shortages, drawing questions, design issues, and production constraints
• Support layout optimization and fabrication process improvements
• Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, and labor efficiency
Leadership & Employee Management
• Train and mentor employees on welding procedures, blueprint reading, shop math, and ETO documentation
• Plan, assign, and direct daily work activities
• Provide coaching and technical guidance to fabrication personnel
• Conduct performance reviews and provide employee feedback
• Make pay and performance recommendations as appropriate
• Address employee concerns and assist with complaint resolution
• Support problem-solving and conflict resolution within the department
• Administer disciplinary actions when required
• Promote accountability, teamwork, safety, and quality throughout the fabrication department
Welding & Fabrication Knowledge
Candidates should have strong working knowledge of:
• GMAW (MIG)
• GTAW (TIG)
• FCAW (Flux Core)
• SMAW (Stick)
• Submerged Arc Welding (Subarc)
• Structural and industrial fabrication
• Fit-up and layout procedures
• Weld maps and engineered fabrication drawings
• ASME quality requirements
• Engineer-to-order manufacturing processes
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous Fabrication Foreman or shop supervisory experience
• Experience leading welders, fitters, and fabricators
• Engineer-to-order manufacturing experience
• Custom industrial equipment fabrication experience
• Strong ASME fabrication background
• Experience tracking labor efficiency and production KPIs
• Experience with payroll, labor-hour allocation, and employee performance management
• Continuous improvement and Operational Excellence experience
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand and walk throughout an active fabrication facility for extended periods
• Frequent bending, reaching, climbing, and movement between production areas
• Ability to safely work around welding, fabrication, lifting, and material-handling equipment
• Ability to inspect fabricated components and work areas throughout the production process
• Comfortable working in an industrial environment while wearing required PPE
Work Environment
• Engineer-to-order industrial manufacturing and fabrication facility
• Regular interaction with welders, fitters, fabricators, Engineering, Quality, Planning, Inventory Control, and Plant Management
• Exposure to welding equipment, heavy steel, fabrication machinery, industrial noise, sparks, fumes, and active production operations
• Leadership position requiring a combination of technical fabrication knowledge, personnel management, and production oversight
• Strong emphasis on ASME quality, OSHA compliance, project schedules, labor efficiency, and customer specifications
