Shift: Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking a dependable Forklift Driver for a temp-to-hire opportunity in a busy Tulsa lumberyard. This position is responsible for operating a forklift to load, unload, stage, and move lumber, drywall, and other building materials while also assisting with general yard and warehouse responsibilities.
Previous forklift, lumberyard, or drywall experience is preferred. Current forklift certification is not required, as the company will provide onsite certification for qualified candidates.
This is a hands-on outdoor position requiring reliable attendance, strong safety awareness, and the ability to remain productive throughout an extended workday.
Required Experience & Skills
• Previous forklift experience preferred
• Lumberyard or building-material experience preferred
• Drywall handling experience preferred
• Ability to safely operate or learn to operate a forklift
• Ability to read and follow work orders and instructions
• Strong attention to material and order accuracy
• Ability to safely load, unload, and stage materials
• Comfortable performing general yard and warehouse duties
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Reliable transportation required
• Dependable attendance and punctuality
• Strong work ethic and commitment to workplace safety
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Operate a forklift in an active lumberyard environment
• Load customer and company vehicles as assigned
• Unload incoming deliveries
• Move lumber, drywall, and other building materials throughout the yard
• Stage materials according to work orders
• Organize products in designated storage locations
• Verify materials before movement or loading
• Read and follow applicable work orders
• Assist customers and coworkers with material handling as assigned
• Perform general warehouse and yard duties when not operating the forklift
• Maintain clean and organized storage and staging areas
• Remove debris and potential hazards from work areas
• Follow all company equipment and yard safety procedures
• Perform additional material-handling duties as assigned
Forklift Responsibilities
Candidates may regularly use a forklift to:
• Load trucks and customer vehicles
• Unload incoming materials
• Move lumber and building products
• Handle drywall and related materials
• Stage customer orders
• Organize inventory throughout the yard
• Transport materials between storage and loading areas
Forklift certification is not required before starting. The company will provide onsite certification.
Lumberyard & Material Handling
Candidates should be comfortable working with materials such as:
• Lumber
• Drywall
• Building materials
• Palletized products
• Construction supplies
• Other yard inventory
Previous lumberyard or drywall experience is especially helpful because these materials can require careful handling to prevent damage.
General Yard & Warehouse Responsibilities
This is not strictly a forklift-only position. Associates must be willing to assist with:
• Material staging
• Order preparation
• Warehouse organization
• Yard cleanup
• Manual material handling
• Loading and unloading
• Inventory organization
• Other general labor responsibilities
Screening Requirements
Candidates must successfully complete applicable pre-employment screening requirements.
Background Check
• No violent crimes
• No weapons-related offenses
• No sex offender convictions
• Other felony history may be considered case-by-case
• Recent felony history within the last 5 years may disqualify candidates
Drug Screening / Workplace Policy
• Drug screening required
• Valid OMMA status accepted
• No odor or indication of marijuana use while at work
• Marijuana use or impairment at work is prohibited and may result in immediate termination

• Previous Forklift Driver experience
• Lumberyard experience
• Drywall experience
• Building-material distribution experience
• Warehouse experience
• Construction material-handling experience
• Truck loading and unloading experience
• Outdoor yard experience
• Order-pulling and staging experience
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift and move materials as required
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
• Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling
• Ability to safely enter and exit a forklift repeatedly
• Ability to safely handle lumber, drywall, and other building materials
• Comfortable performing physically demanding yard and warehouse work
• Ability to work outdoors throughout the shift
• Ability to safely wear required PPE
Outdoor Work Environment
This position works primarily in an active lumberyard and may involve exposure to:
• Summer heat
• Cold temperatures
• Wind
• Sun exposure
• Rain or changing weather conditions
• Dust and outdoor yard conditions
• Forklifts, trucks, and moving materials
Candidates should be prepared to work safely and productively in varying weather conditions.
