Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking a dependable Grinder to join a manufacturing and fabrication team in Pryor. This position is responsible for operating grinding equipment to remove excess material, burrs, rough edges, and surface imperfections from fabricated components while ensuring finished products meet established quality standards.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and comfortable using hand-held and machine-operated grinding equipment in an active industrial environment.
Required Experience & Skills
• Previous manufacturing, fabrication, or grinding experience is a plus
• Ability to safely operate hand-held grinders and related shop equipment
• Basic mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail
• Ability to read and follow work orders, specifications, and production instructions
• Ability to use measuring tools such as calipers and gauges
• Strong commitment to quality workmanship and workplace safety
• Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Operate grinding machines and hand-held grinding tools safely and efficiently
• Remove excess material, burrs, rough edges, weld imperfections, and other surface defects
• Grind and finish components according to production specifications
• Read and follow work orders, blueprints, and job requirements
• Measure and inspect finished components to verify quality and accuracy
• Use calipers, gauges, and other measuring equipment as required
• Identify defective or nonconforming components and report concerns to supervisors
• Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of grinding equipment
• Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements
• Perform additional grinding, finishing, and production duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous industrial grinding or metal finishing experience
• Metal fabrication or manufacturing experience
• Experience cleaning and finishing welded components
• Familiarity with blueprints and fabrication drawings
• Experience using precision measuring equipment
• Strong mechanical and hands-on production skills
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs
• Frequent standing, bending, reaching, lifting, and repetitive upper-body movement
• Ability to safely operate grinding equipment while wearing required PPE
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination necessary for detailed grinding and finishing work
• Comfortable performing physically active work throughout the shift
Work Environment
• Industrial manufacturing and fabrication shop environment
• Exposure to dust, noise, vibration, metal materials, and production equipment
• Regular use of grinders and other powered shop tools
• Fast-paced environment focused on safety, quality, and productivity
• PPE required according to company and job-specific safety procedures
