Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking an experienced Industrial Painter / Sandblaster to join a busy industrial manufacturing team in Tulsa. This position is responsible for preparing, sandblasting, painting, and finishing industrial equipment, fabricated parts, and metal surfaces while maintaining high standards for quality and safety.
The ideal candidate has hands-on industrial painting and sandblasting experience, understands proper surface preparation techniques, and is comfortable using spray equipment and protective coatings throughout a 12-hour shift.
Required Experience & Skills
• Previous industrial painting experience preferred
• Sandblasting experience required
• Experience using industrial spray guns and painting equipment
• Knowledge of paints, coatings, primers, and surface preparation techniques
• Ability to properly clean, sand, mask, blast, and prime metal surfaces
• Ability to read and follow work instructions and production specifications
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment
• Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and proper PPE use
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Sandblast industrial equipment, fabricated components, and metal surfaces in preparation for coating
• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, masking, blasting, and priming as required
• Apply industrial paints, coatings, primers, and finishes using spray equipment
• Set up and safely operate sandblasting and industrial painting equipment
• Ensure surfaces are properly prepared before applying coatings
• Inspect completed products for coverage, consistency, finish quality, and defects
• Perform touch-ups or rework when finished products do not meet specifications
• Maintain spray guns, blasting equipment, tools, and related supplies
• Keep painting, blasting, and preparation areas clean and organized
• Meet established production schedules and deadlines
• Follow all company safety procedures and properly use required PPE
• Perform additional painting, blasting, and production duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
• Industrial spray painting experience
• Metal fabrication or manufacturing experience
• Experience sandblasting steel or fabricated metal components
• Experience applying primers and protective industrial coatings
• Knowledge of coating preparation and finishing procedures
• Familiarity with industrial paint specifications and quality requirements
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand and remain physically active throughout a 12-hour shift
• Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, and repetitive upper-body movement
• Ability to safely operate sandblasting and painting equipment while wearing required PPE
• Comfortable performing physically demanding surface preparation and finishing work
• Ability to work around industrial equipment, metal components, paint, coatings, dust, and blasting materials
Work Environment
• Industrial manufacturing, painting, and surface preparation environment
• Regular exposure to sandblasting equipment, spray painting equipment, coatings, dust, and metal surfaces
• PPE required according to company and job-specific safety procedures
• Fast-paced production setting requiring consistent attention to surface preparation and finish quality
• Extended shifts requiring strong physical stamina and dependable attendance
