Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking a skilled and dependable Plate Roller Operator to join a premier manufacturing team in Collinsville. This position is responsible for operating and maintaining plate rolling equipment used to form steel plate into cylinders, half cylinders, weld pads, and other fabricated components while maintaining strict quality, safety, and production standards.
The ideal candidate has previous plate rolling experience, enjoys working with heavy steel fabrication, and takes pride in producing precision-formed components.
Required Experience & Skills
Minimum 1 year of plate rolling experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment required
High school diploma or GED required
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and work orders preferred
Ability to accurately read tape measures, scales, and other precision measuring devices
Experience using powered and manual hand tools
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Operate plate roll equipment and related machinery according to production requirements
Roll steel plate into cylinders, half cylinders, weld pads, and other fabricated products
Load, position, and align steel plate in rolling equipment to achieve required dimensions and specifications
Work with materials ranging from thin-gauge steel to 1-inch-thick plate
Participate in pre-job setup, tooling preparation, and post-job cleanup activities
Perform routine preventive maintenance and assist with planned equipment maintenance
Monitor machine performance and report operational or maintenance concerns promptly
Verify product dimensions using precision measuring tools to ensure quality standards are met
Maintain adequate supplies and materials for daily production
Follow production schedules while maintaining quality and efficiency
Support team members and departmental objectives as assigned
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and OSHA regulations
Preferred Qualifications
Heavy industrial or structural steel fabrication experience
Experience forming heavy plate materials
Mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting experience
Knowledge of fabrication processes and quality inspection procedures
Physical Requirements
Ability to safely wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) throughout the shift
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, typically 8 or more hours per day
Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and material handling
Ability to safely lift and move up to 50 lbs using proper lifting techniques
Sufficient visual acuity and depth perception to safely operate machinery and inspect finished products
Ability to use hands and fingers effectively to operate machinery, tools, and precision measuring devices
Work Environment
Heavy industrial manufacturing and fabrication facility
Exposure to heavy steel materials, industrial machinery, noise, heat, dust, and moving equipment
Fast-paced production environment focused on safety, quality, and productivity
