Pay: $22.00 per hour
Location: Sapulpa, OK
Shift: Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking an experienced Structural Welder for an immediate temp-to-hire opportunity in Sapulpa. This position joins a growing fabrication team producing structural steel components in a fast-paced industrial shop.
Candidates must have at least 2 years of structural welding experience with strong MIG and Flux Core skills. The position requires blueprint reading, attention to weld quality, and the ability to successfully complete the required weld tests.
Fitting experience is a plus.
Required Experience & Skills
• Minimum 2 years of structural welding experience required
• MIG welding experience required
• Flux Core welding experience required
• Ability to pass required weld tests
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Ability to follow welding specifications
• Structural steel fabrication experience
• Strong attention to weld quality and accuracy
• Fitting experience is a plus
• Strong commitment to workplace and welding safety
• Reliable attendance and punctuality
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced fabrication environment
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Perform MIG welding on structural components
• Perform Flux Core welding on structural steel
• Read and interpret fabrication blueprints
• Follow applicable welding specifications
• Position and prepare components for welding
• Assemble structural components
• Fit components as required based on experience
• Complete welds according to production requirements
• Inspect completed welds for quality and accuracy
• Maintain required weld strength and workmanship
• Identify visible defects or welding concerns
• Correct applicable welding issues
• Use applicable fabrication and welding equipment safely
• Maintain clean and organized work areas
• Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements
• Work with fabrication personnel to meet production requirements
• Perform additional welding and fabrication duties as assigned
MIG & Flux Core Welding
Candidates must be proficient with:
• MIG / GMAW welding
• Flux Core / FCAW welding
• Structural steel welding
• Weld preparation
• Multi-pass welding as applicable
• Production welding
• Visual weld inspection
Candidates should be able to consistently produce strong, accurate welds while maintaining production standards.
Blueprint Reading
Candidates should be comfortable:
• Reading structural fabrication blueprints
• Following welding specifications
• Identifying required weld locations
• Determining component orientation
• Following applicable dimensions
• Verifying completed work against drawings
• Identifying discrepancies before welding
Structural Assembly & Fitting
Responsibilities may include:
• Positioning structural components
• Aligning materials before welding
• Assembling metal structures
• Tack welding
• Verifying component placement
• Maintaining dimensional accuracy
• Supporting structural fit-up activities
Previous fitting experience is preferred but not required.
Required Weld Tests
Candidates must successfully complete the required welding assessment:
• 2G MIG Horizontal – Bend Test
• 2G Flux Core – Radiograph
• ½-inch plate, double bevel with backing bar
Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate consistent MIG and Flux Core welding quality during testing.
Quality Responsibilities
• Inspect completed welds for visible defects
• Maintain consistent weld quality
• Verify welds meet applicable specifications
• Maintain structural strength and accuracy
• Identify work requiring correction
• Complete applicable repairs or rework
• Maintain attention to quality throughout production
• Help prevent nonconforming work from advancing through production
Preferred Qualifications
• Structural Welder experience
• MIG welding experience
• Flux Core welding experience
• Structural steel fabrication experience
• Fitting experience
• Advanced blueprint-reading skills
• Heavy fabrication experience
• Previous radiographic-quality welding experience
• Manufacturing or industrial shop experience
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
• Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, carrying, positioning, pushing, and pulling
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required for welding
• Ability to safely handle structural steel components
• Comfortable performing physically active fabrication work
• Ability to safely work around welding equipment, sparks, heat, metal, and industrial machinery
• Ability to wear all required PPE
Work Environment
• Structural steel fabrication environment
• Regular work around MIG and Flux Core welding equipment, fabricated steel, and shop machinery
• Fast-paced production setting requiring consistent quality and output
• Stable Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM schedule
• Strong emphasis on weld quality, blueprint accuracy, safety, and dependable attendance
