Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable Welder's Helper to support daily welding and fabrication operations in a manufacturing environment. This position assists skilled welders with material preparation, assembly, cleanup, and shop support activities while maintaining a safe and organized work area.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in gaining hands-on experience in welding, fabrication, and metalworking while working alongside experienced trades professionals.
Required Experience & Skills
High school diploma or GED preferred
Previous experience in construction, manufacturing, fabrication, or welding environments is a plus
Basic knowledge of hand tools and fabrication equipment preferred
Ability to read a tape measure accurately
Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
Ability to follow instructions and work safely in a team environment
Reliable attendance and punctuality REQUIRED
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assist welders with setup and execution of welding and fabrication projects
Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, cleaning, and positioning metal components
Operate hand tools, grinders, and other shop equipment as directed
Hold and align parts for welding, bolting, riveting, and assembly operations
Clean weld areas and finished products by removing slag, debris, and excess material
Organize and maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces
Move materials and equipment throughout the shop as needed
Support quality inspections and verification of completed work
Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements
Perform general labor and shop support duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working around welding or fabrication operations
Forklift or material handling experience
Basic blueprint or shop drawing familiarity
Mechanical aptitude and desire to learn skilled trades
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing
Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the shift
Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
Ability to work safely around welding equipment, fabrication tools, and industrial machinery
Work Environment
Manufacturing and fabrication shop environment
Exposure to heat, welding sparks, noise, dust, and industrial equipment
Fast-paced production setting requiring teamwork and safety awareness
PPE required at all times, including safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, and additional equipment as required
